A local volunteer organization, 318 Truth in Action Ministries, is calling for additional helpers to address a surge in home repair requests from residents across the Grand Valley region.
Growing Demand for Assistance
Since its inception in March, 318 Truth in Action Ministries has been dedicated to assisting those in need with home repairs. Initially focusing on the Surface Creek area, the group has recently experienced an overwhelming number of requests extending to Montrose, Olathe, and Grand Junction. This expansion has placed a strain on their current resources.
Volunteer Capacity Challenges
With approximately 70 volunteers from four local churches, the organization has been proactive in responding to local projects. However, the increasing demand from areas beyond Delta County has highlighted the need for more volunteers. Many current members are limited in their ability to travel long distances, making it challenging to meet the growing needs of the broader community.
Community Call to Action
Co-founder David Murphy emphasizes the importance of community involvement, stating, “I know there are churches and there are believers and there are people that just have a passion for wanting to be able to bless others and help. I’d love to talk to you.” The group is actively seeking individuals and organizations willing to contribute their time and skills to support this vital cause.
Upcoming Projects and How to Help
Among the upcoming projects is the construction of a wheelchair ramp for a home in Delta. Those interested in volunteering or who know someone in need of assistance are encouraged to contact the group at 318truthinactionministries@gmail.com.
The increasing demand for home repair assistance underscores the significant need for community support. By volunteering, individuals can make a meaningful difference in the lives of many homeowners struggling with maintenance and repairs.
